Playback sound is more clear on VAR speed

Hi all,
I'm a newcomer on this forum, and I would like first to thank you all for all information you share here.
I'm restoring a TS1000 : everything runs well atter cleaning applying new grease and changing all tantal and elko capacités. Except some little things and features.
1- When playing back a tape recorded at 19cm/s, the sound is more clear using variable speed than using 19cm/s.
Is there a filter that is enabled when 19cm/s speed is selected and disabled when selecting variable speed ?
2- Autostop does not work when using preselection counter value activated by Vz switch. I also need to disable the tape break switch, else it returns to STOP after some seconds, even when a tape is present. This switch seems to work in the opposite way !
For all other features, everything is OK ; fast forward and rewind is working well with variable speed using R105.
Do not hesitate if you have some tips !
Many thanks.
François
